Orchard Nursery School Newsletter

September 2009

Welcome back to all our existing families and a great big welcome to all the new families joining us.

The beginning of term is approaching and we are all looking forwards to seeing the children again.  Don’t forget to stick in mementoes and pictures of their holidays in their diaries, so we can all share our news in the first sessions back.

During the holidays we have had a new kitchen fitted and it looks fantastic.  Thanks must go to the Friends of Orchard Nursery (FONs) school for all their hard work getting it installed and for their fundraising. Also thanks to the school and playgroup for their donations, all of which made it possible.  The next FONs event is the Silent Auction tickets will be on sale soon.

The days at Nursery may still be sunny so please make sure your child has suntan cream (named) at Nursery and has it applied before they leave home.

We have a student joining us this year to study for her Early Years Professional Status.  Her name is Fiona and she is from New Zealand.  I am sure she will have lots of exciting experiences to share with us too.

Congratulations also to Kirstie who starts her degree course this term. Mary will be finishing her level 3 qualification at Christmas and Jude will not be with us again until the summer as she going back to college for the 2nd year of her degree.  I am very proud of how conscientious and determined the nursery staff are. They are always trying to up-grade their skills and knowledge for the benefit of the nursery and your children.

We have lots of new story sacks for your child to enjoy. Please can you limit yourselves to one sack at a time?  When you bring the sack back you can chose another.  Don’t forget to sign the sacks out and back in again.  A member of staff will show you how if you are unsure.

We will be looking at the children’s key person this term and there may be some changes due to staff rotas and children’s days of attending.  We will  let you know.

Polices

All the Nursery policies have been updated in the last term.  There are too many to send out as paper copies.  We can provide them on a cd if you prefer or you can access them on our website. www.orchardnurseryschool.co.uk  There are also photos and descriptions of the children’s learning and events we have held on the website.
